I can’t believe there is ONLY two more weeks until Halloween! I wish the retail business would let us relish a bit more and enjoy the fall holiday rather then slowly put out their Christmas merchandise. I have a secret… I like to pretend I hate Christmas, but I really don’t. I love the decorations and THE FOOD. Hello stuffing! Anyway let’s talk about my favorite things this week.
1.) L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara I’m not going to lie… I bought this mascara because the packaging is adorable! The package advertises a flexible brush but, I found it to be very flimsy. I don’t really clump on mascara, just one quick swipe for me and that’s all. While I am disappointed with the brush, this mascara is pretty spectacular. It lasts all day, is waterproof, and removes easily. As far as it making your lashes “manga” like and all full, I really don’t think that affect is possible. Regardless, I’m satisfied with this $8 purchase.
2.) boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel Lately I have been having an issue with small breakouts. I’ve been going through a lot of stress with school so, I am attributing it to that. I went out on a limb and bought this $26 cleanser because it had great reviews. It is supposed to help fight break outs. I’ve been using it for 3 weeks now and I LOVE it. Unlike other acne fighting washes this one is very light and gentle. Just a tiny bit is enough that will foam up and leave your skin feeling really clean. I’m replacing this with my typical purity cleanser for now.
3.) Real Techniques Stippling Brush Great brush I purchased at Ulta for $10. I often use this to apply my foundation. Eventually I am going to invest in a quality MAC brush, but for now this does the trick.
4.) Maybelline Porcelain Collection “Prima Pink” Eyeshadow Palette I bought this at Target a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it is a limited edition so I was unable to locate it for purchase online. The combination of colors result in a smokey purple look and with a decent primer it lasts all day. Personally purple shades are my favorite because I have dark eyes and I think that purple shades make them pop.
5.) HUE Super Control Top Opaque Tights It’s getting a bit too chilly to keep wearing regular panty hose. I’ve switched over to opaque tights. The problem is I haven’t been able to find colorful pairs that also have a control top. I ordered a grey pair of these on amazon for about the same cost as Macy’s. They had just enough “control” at the top (I was still able to breathe lol) and the color was really opaque! I plan to invest in a few more pairs in various colors.
Happy 4th of July! This is one of the few holidays I actually have off from work. I don’t have any plans and will probably just lounge around the house and continue the Desperate Housewife’s marathon. Here are my Friday favorites:
One – Makeup Forever High Definition Foundation. This is the only foundation I have used for the past 6 years but, cringe every time I have to spend $42 on a new bottle. In the past, I have tried cheaper foundations but, you get what you pay for. The great advantage to this foundation is that a little goes a long way. I think the last time I bought it was back around Christmas time and it lasted until July. It’s consistency is very thin but, it is full coverage. I always get a lot of compliments on my skin and I am sure this product has a lot to do with it.
Two – Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus. After using a variety of different stylus to draw with on my iPad, I found that this one was the best. At $100 it is pretty costly but worth it! In my experience, the cheaper stylus always ended up cracking at the rubber tip. I assume that it is from the pressure put on it during use in order to get lines precise. I found that the wacom stylus provided more control and preciseness which alleviates a significant amount of pressure on the tip. Wacom also includes two spare tips in the pen case as well as an extra battery.
Three – Q & A Five Year Journal.Between work and school I have a limited amount of free time. I used to write in a journal on a regular basis both online and offline. When I saw this Five Year Journal, I liked that it was short and simple by only asking one question a day. Before I go to bed each night, I spend a few minutes responding to the daily question.
Four – Maybelline Eyestudio Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow. After reading several great reviews about this product, I picked up the colors inked in pink and barely branded at Target for $6.99. Instead of a regular eye shadow primer, I’ve been using both of these as a base instead. Inked in pink is an excellent base to use with the shadows in the Naked 3 palette. There are several other colors available but, they are very vibrant and I prefer neutrals.
Five –Pop Manga by Camilla D’errico. I stumbled upon Camilla’s book one day while browsing the art books at Barnes and Nobles. Camilla is a world renowned manga artist whose work has prominent influence in pop surrealism. A highly accomplished comic-book artist and painter, Camilla has done some illustration and design work for The Walt Disney Company. In addition, her work is licensed onto various types of merchandise along with her own clothing line. In this instructional book she breaks down the techniques she uses to draw her adorable manga characters. Her step by step instructions on how to draw hands, has helped me immensely. I plan to eventually get her graphic novel, Tanpop, which is inspired by classic literature such as Faust, Shakespeare, and Edgar Allen Poe.
