Konjac sponge. For months I’ve been dying to try a Konjac sponge, but kept passing it up because of the $18 price tag. I purchased one on Amazon for $5.94. The sponge is very rough when dry, but as soon as you get it wet and lather some face cleanser in there it is amazing! Normally I wash my face with my clairsonic when I want to exfoliate. If I opt for a wash rag or some other cloth my face gets irritated from daily washing. This sponge is really gentle, removes all the traces of make up that my make up remove leaves behind, and leaves my skin feeling soft. The sponge lasts about 2-3 months.
Urban Decay’s Virgin Eye Shadow This shadow is one that is included in the original Naked palette. I’ve used it so much that I hit the pan! It is similar to MAC’s Shroom shadow. I prefer this Urban Decay shadow over MAC because the product is a little more powdery and soft. $18 is pricey for one shadow, but I have not been able to find a drug store color that is similar and the same consistency.
Real Techniques Sculpting Set. Another set of affordable makeup brushes to add to the collection. Real techniques brushes are reasonably priced and decent quality. I purchased this set on Amazon for $10.94.
Blender sponge holder. I use my beauty blender the same way every day. I wet it and blend my concealer into my foundation. After I was finished, I set the blender on vanity and continued on with my make up routine. The blender always rolled around smudging makeup all over the vanity. This little holder keeps the vanity clean and my blender in one place. Plus, it is only $7.99.
AELEC Bluetooth Headphones. For $20, these Bluetooth headphones are a worthwhile investment. They are comfortable, cancel out noise, and produce a decent sound. My only compliant is that there is a lot of static and skipping when they are worn around other people who are using bluetooth headphones. Otherwise, a great deal for the price!
Tomorrow is a day that is dreaded by some and loved by many. The retail industry rakes in a boatload of money from candy, stuffed animals, and jewelry each year for V-day. Although it is over commercialized, I love Valentine’s Day. Not because I’m all squishy loving love, but I adore the combination of red and pink together. Everything from pizza to donuts can be bought in a heart shape. Can food get any cuter?
I complied a little list of a few of my favorite products for Valentine’s Day. Usually my Husband and I stay low key and go out on another night to avoid the crowds. I’m not really one to get all dressed up regardless. This year we decided to go to New York City for a few days next week and visit some museums and friends up there. I can’t wait! Anyway on the favs…
Essie Nail Polish in Play Date My new favorite Essie polish! Once applied this color is just as vibrant as it appears in the bottle. This pastel-ish purple is such a pretty color for the slowly approaching spring.
Too Faced Sweethearts Blush in Very Berry This blush is bright and really pigmented. A little bit goes a long way for those of you who have paler complexions. Candy Glow and Peach Beach are two other color options. The Candy Glow color is probably better suited for pale skin tones while Peach Beach appears to have more of a shimmery bronze tone. This blush is pricey, but Too Faced products have not disappointed me yet! The packaging itself is adorable.
MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Russian Red This is the classic movie star red lipstick. Generally I am not a lipstick person, but I was going for a pin up look when I got married and picked up this color after it was highly recommended to me. I paired it with some cheap Rimmel lip liner and it looked amazing.
Calvin Klein Euphoria Perfume My all time favorite perfume, Euphoria is a light floral musk fragrance. The smell lasts all day, but is not overpowering. Next time you are out stop and try a sample of this! You have to smell it to understand my love for it!
I may be late to the party, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear MAC is releasing a Cinderella Collection!
It is available starting February 26th on their website. I feel the packaging is a little bit plain, but I suppose it fits well with the product colors. I love the feminine earth tones and am specifically looking at purchasing the beauty powder and maybe a lipstick!
Have a Happy V-Day!
I’ve tried using primer several years ago for the first time and bought the Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer for a whopping $36. It did smooth out my skin, but I didn’t really notice a difference with how long my makeup lasted. Since it didn’t really live up to it’s claims, I put it in the back of my makeup drawer and just forgot about it. Time to time I’d pull it out and try again, but clearly was never really satisfied with the results.
Flash forward to my everyday face post last week, I had mentioned that my blush does not stay put no matter what I do. Asa from Lace and Pearls Blog suggested I try out a primer. While browsing around the makeup section at the drug store, I saw this Maybelline FaceStudio Master Prime and Blur. I picked up the Blur + Smooth version for a reasonable price of $6.99.
Fresh out of the tube, here is a photo of what it looks like.
I was surprised to find out that the consistency is a little bit runny and similar to a facial lotion. Once applied, the product actually feels like the Smashbox Primer. I’ve only had it for a few days, but I did notice a difference in the length of time my makeup lasted. My blush stays put and my foundation doesn’t soak into my skin by the end of the day.
I highly recommend this product as a cheap alternative to Smashbox!
Happy Friday! I’m so behind on everything this week because my final project was due for the class I am currently taking. We were only given one week to work on it, so it has been tough! Thankfully it is all finished and I have a break this weekend to relax.
This week I’m going to do something a little different and show you all the make up that I use on a daily basis. One of my favorite things to read on other people’s blogs is the combination of products they use to put on their “every day face.” I like trying out new products and switching up my routine every once and awhile.
These are my every day products:
Make Up Forever HD Powder
Make Up Forever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duality Highlighter
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil
L’oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
L’oreal Voluminous Manga Mascara
MAC Mineralize Blush
Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette
My eyeshadow varies daily and my blush often does as well. Right now I’m looking for a blush that lasts ALL day. By lunch time mine has already worn off. Does using a cream blush and applying powder blush on top help it last? If you have any tips or product suggestions let me know!
My face after my routine smiling because it’s Friday!
Have a lovely weekend!
bareMinerals 5-In-1 BB Cream Shadow in Elegant Taupe – I received this cream shadow in an Ipsy bag several months ago. I know that many people rave over bareMineral products but, none of their products stood out to me. This 5 in one shadow claims to provide 12 hours of wear, primer, brightening benefits, smoothing of fine lines, and sun protection. Does it live up to it’s claims? Definitely! It has great staying power and will last 8+ hours of work and through my work out afterwards. (I know, it’s bad but, sometimes I don’t take my makeup off before I work out!)
Murad Renewing Cleansing Cream – The incredibly bitter cold winter we are having has left my skin dry, especially my face. I was looking to add a moisturizing cleanser to my routine and this Murad one had great reviews. The product is supposed to be ultra moisturizing and renew dull, dry skin. After using it for two weeks my face does feel more moisturized. The best thing about this cleanser is that it is very gentle and light. A tiny amount goes a long way!
Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Contour Brush & Shade + Light Contour Palette – I posted a quick review of the contour palette last week. (Click here to see the post) My lovely Husband bought me the brush to go along with the palette for Valentine’s Day and gave it to me early! I wanted the brush ever since I saw Kat’s post of the packaging on Instagram. The angle of the brush is perfect for contouring and the bristles are soft allowing the product to blend seamlessly. If you are looking to buy a quality contour brush, this is a great option!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – Many of you have mentioned that this is a really great concealer that is very creamy and does not settle into fine facial lines. A lot of concealers I’ve tried seep into my tiny under eye lines and accentuate them! So far I’m loving this product. The consistency is creamy which, I believe keeps it from settling. It seems to last a lot longer then most concealers I’ve tried in the past. I wear glasses everyday so, some of my eye makeup does rub off. Thanks to everyone who recommended this!
Olay In-shower Body Lotion, Quench – I mistakenly bought this thinking it was body wash! It’s actually an in-shower body lotion that claims to infuse skin with moisture using the humidity of the shower to allow it to absorb more into your skin. The formula is exactly like regular lotion. It does not lather but, rinses off clean. I like to use this when I feel extra lazy and don’t want to take the time to put lotion on my skin. My only complaint is the powerful soapy smell.
Also, I just want to thank Nessa again from That Chic Fashion Blog for hand writing a sweet personal note for all of her favorite Bloggers in her #takebackwhatsyours campaign post! I admire each and everyone one of you who is participating. Thank you for sharing your personal obstacles and inspiring so many other people to do the same. I’m happy to be part of a community that is so supportive and encouraging!
Have a lovely weekend!
